SmartGo One 2.0
SmartGo One took a significant step forward with improved KataGo integration: faster speed, stronger network, and the ability to calculate and show hints continuously. Read all about it here: https://smartgo.blog/2024/07/08/smartgo-one-two/
Make sure you upgrade to the newest 2.0.2 version, as version 2.0 had some issues on slower devices. If you’re still experiencing any issues with the latest update, please let me know.
Improved swipe to replay
That same blog post also mentions that swiping below the board to replay the game has been improved. The swipe is now speed sensitive: swipe slowly to replay move by move, swipe fast to zoom through the game. And there’s a setting to give you more space below the board to make it easier to swipe.
Rank estimate in problems
SmartGo One can now estimate your rank based on the problems you’ve solved, and it can present problems around that rank to give you the right challenge. This blog post has the details. Speaking of problems: if you like to solve problems, goproblems.com has seen significant updates recently, worth checking out. (The problem collections in SmartGo One are licensed from goproblems.com.)
Tips and tricks
There are a lot of hidden details in SmartGo One that you might not know about:
- As you work through problems, simply swipe left to go to the next problem, and swipe down to reset the current problem.
- The pro game collection includes over 150 pro-level 9x9 games. Tap on the search box at the top, then tap on the two bars on the left side of the search box, then choose Board Size > 9x9 to see those games.
Staying connected
This is the week of the US Go Congress, and unfortunately, I’m not there. We’re in the process of building a passive house in Kanab, Utah, and the build is at a critical juncture where it’s important for me to be there. If you’re at the Congress, I wish you the best of luck in your games!
