SmartGo One
I just released a significant update to SmartGo One: the Guess Moves feature from SmartGo Kifu is back, much improved. You can now choose to guess moves by just one of the players, and you can also turn on guessing with joseki matching. See the details in my blog post.
Pricing change
The Guess Moves and Train Joseki features require the Pro upgrade, so if you have not gotten around to it yet, now is a good time to start your free two-week trial. Lock in the introductory price of $11.99/year (for the first as well as subsequent years) before June 15 ($14.99/year after that).
Recent changes
Other recent SmartGo One changes:
- You can now sort books by level. While the difficulty level of a book is very fuzzy, I hope it will help you find the right book.
- The pro games were updated on May 4, adding more than 300 game records, many of them played very recently.
- Speaking of pro games, you can now select a subset of more recent pro games for pattern matching, instead of always matching all games.
- I've added Play Computer as a separate menu item from New Game, making it easier to find, and simplifying both functions.
- A number of bug fixes to iron out some 1.0 issues.
Tips & tricks
Some small features you might not be aware of:
- Tap with two fingers on the board to quickly access the most important settings (e.g. to turn coordinates on or off).
- When starting a new game, tap and hold on the arrows between the player names to randomly choose who goes first (nigiri).
- In the list of pro games, swipe down, enter e.g. “2022” in the search box, then tap on the three dots icon at the top and choose Go to Random Game to see a game played in 2022. Useful in conjunction with Guess Moves, or just tap on auto-play at the bottom to watch the game as you’re doing something else.
