New features in SmartGo One
In the last month I’ve added three significant features to SmartGo One:
- Much improved hint
- Analyze the whole game
- Score graph
Long press on the Hint button to access all those features. Read more about them in these blog posts:

French, Spanish, and Korean
SmartGo One now also supports French, Spanish, and Korean (in addition to German and Japanese added earlier). And the player names can be shown in English, Kanji, Chinese, or Hangul. If you have Go-playing friends who would be interested in those localized versions, please spread the word and let them know.
Tips & tricks
Some small features you might not be aware of:
- When you tap on a game in the list, which position do you want to see? It’s your choice: in Settings > Games > Go to Game, you can choose to go to the start or the end of the game, or to the position shown in the thumbnail.
- As you record or play a game, you might go back some moves and inadvertently start a new variation, and then keep going on that one thinking it’s the main line of play. SmartGo will automatically switch this variation to become the main line as soon as the variation becomes longer than the actual game. (You can turn this behavior off in Settings > Move Input > Auto-Promote to Main.)
- The app icon is based on move 127 of Shusaku’s famous ear-reddening game. To replay that game, simply pull down on the pro games list to expose the search box and search for “ear-red”.
